The Mississippi River Voyage is a fundraising event brought to you by the Water for People Committee of the Michigan Water Environment Association. The Voyage will begin on July 19, 2014 in Lake Itasca, Minnesota and follow the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico. The Mississippi River Voyage team will travel by kayak the entire 2,291 river miles and arrive in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 27 for WEFTEC 2014.
The Mississippi River Voyage paddlers are Linda and Gary DeKock from Grand Rapids, Michigan. They will be assisted from time to time by friends, family, and Water for People committees in the ten states that border the river. The voyage is self-funded by the participants, so 100% of every pledge goes directly to Water for People.
